Victor Wooten

Victor Lemonte Wooten (born September 11, 1964) has won the "Bass Player of the Year" award from Bass Player magazine three times in a row, and was the first person to win it more than once. He started to play bass when he was two, and by the age of six, Victor was performing with his brothers in their family band, The Wooten Brothers Band. Wooten pioneered a technique known as a double thumb, which involves striking the the string with the outside of the thumb on the way down and then with the inside on the way up.

It pays to start young, then.
